The global risk appetite took a hit overnight and the situation in Argentina and Hong Kong, which is continuing into today, isn't helping with the sentiment in the region either. Asian equities are taking a bit of a beating as a result with the Hang Seng index fell 2.10%, as of its final hour of trading. It fell to its lowest level in over seven months.
The sub-index of the Hang Seng tracking energy shares and the IT sector both dipped 1.9%, the financial sector ended 2.1% lower and the property sector lost 2.3%. Shares of Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways fell further on Tuesday, having reached a 10-year low this week.
Sunny Optical Technology Group Co Ltd, which gained 0.5% was the top gainer of the day, while the Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, which fell 5.8% became the biggest loser of the day .
