There are signs of optimism in UK markets today as the end of trade brings modest gains. FTSE 250 closed yesterday at 18941 and increased significantly by 0.91%, a total of 173.56, ending the session at 19114.56. FTSE 100 also finished on a high at 7253.03, after a marginal rise of 0.75%.

FTSE 250 saw a considerable spike in volume, 12.16% higher than its three month average at 358.65 million. The FTSE 100's volume was 5% higher than its average.

Hargreaves Lansdown and Just Eat were the DAX's top performers today, with a percentage hike of 10.97% and 8.34%. On the SPE 350, top performers were Cairn at 6.75% and AA Plc  at 5.58%

BT Group  and Direct Line Insurance [ticker] were the DAX's lowest performers today, with a percentage fall of -5.67% and -2.74%. SPE 250's biggest losers were Greene King and Hastings Group Holdings at -3.38% and -2.98%
